The Alive Labs mission is to bring healthier systems into our urban environment.

Cities of the modern day are plagued by air pollution, a severe lack of biodiversity, and carbon dioxide contributing to excess urban heating.

In order to build cities towards a more sustainable mode of operation, smarter systems need to be introduced, and we believe that those systems could be inspired by nature.

Terranite is a strong, bioreceptive, and carbon-negative cementitious compound that harbours biological life, amounting to a symbiotic relationship between the natural and the manmade. Concrete that provides life for plants, plants that provide ecological defences to the harsh conditions of urban existence.

The integration of biodiversity into the urban fabric is more than just a mission, it is also a design choice. We believe that nature is inherently beautiful, and that our architectural systems can be built to complement that beauty, rather than contrast it.

Our built environment in symbiotic harmony with nature is a real possibility, and at Alive Labs, we are developing the next generation of materials that can crystallise this future into reality.
